WRITING
AFFINITY co-Written with Ryan Adelsheim, Adapted from Sarah Waters' Novel
-
Restless and bereft in Victorian England, Margaret Prior finds herself at Millbank Women's Prison as a "lady visitor." With a furtive flash of violet, Margaret's world spins wildly out of control as she's introduced to a new world of seances and queer influences. Part romance, part ghost story, Affinity examines one woman's quest for connection, liberty, and even love in a strait-laced society.

AWFUL DISCLOSURES (a riff on the confessional by Maria Monk) by Alex Keegan
-
In 1836, Maria Monk wrote a confessional the caused public hysteria over her allegations of enduring psychology horror in a convent. This play riffs on the text, framework, and public response to Monk's confessional to investigate questions of truth and disinformation within organized religion in Trump era USA. Set in 2017, the play considers how a conservative town reckons with its treatment of queer youth when an anon Twitter account start reporting secret maps and scandalous allegations of abuse inside a conversion therapy center.
